Pluto crossed Virgo in about fourteen years, and everyone born in that span shares it. The compulsion is diagnostic. This generation cannot leave a working system unexamined; it wants the mechanism open on the table, the assumptions audited, the contaminant identified. Environmental science, epidemiology, computing, quality control and the entire apparatus of modern critique matured in its hands. What it destroyed was the presumption that an institution deserved trust simply because it had always been trusted.
The buried material here is contamination itself, in every register. Pollution, toxicity, disease, corrupted data, the poison inside the wholesome-looking product. This cohort came of age with pesticide scandals and an epidemic, and it responded with method rather than mysticism. The private cost is a relation to the body and to work that is rarely relaxed. Perfectionism arrives dressed as responsibility; from inside it reads as due diligence, from outside as an inability to declare anything finished.
By house one sees where the dismantling concentrated: sixth, and health or employment becomes the arena of transformation; twelfth, and the analysis turns on the person's own hidden material, usually productively and never comfortably. Mercury aspects sharpen the critical faculty into something formidable and occasionally corrosive. The generation's real bequest is the habit of asking what a system actually does, as distinct from what it says it does.
