Mars Trine Neptune

The trine lets Mars move through Neptune without resistance, giving an easy physical grace and an instinct for the mood of a room that the native has never had to think about.

Effort here is unusually quiet. The native does not appear to be trying, and the work nonetheless gets done, often better than the visibly strenuous version produced by someone else. Rhythm is the mechanism: they wait until the moment is right and then move with it, in sport, in negotiation and in bed. Cruelty is nearly absent from the temperament. Such natives are gentle in a way that has no policy behind it, and animals and frightened people notice before anyone else does.

The complacency is specific and easy to miss. Because things arrive by waiting for the moment, the native never learns to make a moment, and when circumstances refuse to cooperate they do not push, they drift. Deadlines are missed with great charm. Standards slide slowly, since nothing hurts and no one complains until quite late. Drink, ease and pleasant company are the usual solvents, and the trine offers no warning about any of them; it makes the descent comfortable rather than obvious.

Put to work it is a considerable asset in any art with a body in it, and in all the caring trades, where the native's ability to act without hardening is rare and cannot be taught. The problem, as with every trine, is that it cannot be taught by them either. Asked how they knew what the patient needed, they say they just knew. The development lies entirely in accepting a discipline that does not care about the mood: a rehearsal schedule, a qualification, a demanding teacher.
