Uranus Trine Neptune

A whole generation shares this easy flow between invention and imagination, which is exactly why it goes unnoticed: what every contemporary also possesses is never experienced as a talent.

One hundred and twenty degrees between these two bodies lasts for years at a time, most recently in the middle 1940s with Uranus in Gemini and Neptune in Libra. Everyone born in such a window has it. Two facts follow. The first is that the trine describes an atmosphere rather than a person, a period in which the new and the visionary came to terms with each other unusually easily. The second is that its ease is doubled: a trine is already undemanding, and a generational trine is undemanding and unremarkable to everyone the native grew up beside.

It reaches an individual by house and by contact, and by nothing else. In the third house it shows as a facility for putting strange ideas into ordinary language. In the eleventh, an effortless place among unusual people. In the tenth, a career that accommodates novelty without any struggle over it. A personal planet touching either end is what converts the atmosphere into an aptitude: the Sun makes it a way of proceeding, Mercury a way of thinking, Venus a taste that is ahead of its company without trying to be.

The risk is the usual risk of trines, sharpened by numbers. Nothing here demands development, and nothing marks the native out among their contemporaries, so the capacity is generally left in its raw state. Such natives are receptive to what is coming and useless at explaining why. They pick up the new instrument, the new medium, the new idea early, then hand it to someone with harder aspects who will do the work of establishing it. Making anything of this trine requires deliberately entering company that does not share it.

What It Gives

  • early receptivity to the new
  • strange ideas rendered plainly
  • ease among unusual company
  • novelty absorbed without anxiety

What It Costs

  • aptitude indistinguishable from the era
  • discoveries handed to others
  • no pressure to develop anything

This is one line of a whole chart. The rest of it — every placement, house and aspect at once — is a birth date away.
