Pluto in Leo

Roughly 1939 to 1958, a generational placement whose cohort took the self as its instrument of power, dismantled deference, and never quite relinquished the stage it claimed.

For about nineteen years Pluto occupied Leo, and the enormous cohort born then arrived with an unshakeable conviction of its own significance. This is not a personal trait but a shared inheritance; the whole generation carries it. What it destroyed was deference. Authority based on position rather than merit or charisma had a very hard time from these people, in the family, the church, the university and the workplace, and much of that demolition was overdue and well done.

The house locates where the compulsion concentrated. Fifth house, and creative work or children carry the whole force of it; tenth, and the career becomes a throne. Solar contacts are decisive, marking those in whom the generational appetite became an individual command over other people. This cohort produced the century's great performers and its great self-inventors, and taught everyone after it that a life may be composed rather than merely inherited.
