Saturn Opposite Neptune

Facing one another across the chart, Saturn and Neptune divide the native's own argument between two people, so the fantasist and the auditor are always somebody else until the pattern is noticed.

Oppositions arrive from outside first. The native takes up one end of this axis, usually the responsible one, and then meets the other end repeatedly in the flesh: the partner who will not commit to a date, the employer whose promises dissolve on inspection, the relative whose illness or drinking makes plans impossible. Alternatively the native carries the dream and marries the accountant. Either way the complaint is loud, sincere and only half true, because the missing half was never in the other person to begin with.

Working life shows the split clearly. Resolution is not a compromise between the two but the deliberate carrying of both. The native who can say plainly what the thing costs and still refuse to reduce it to its cost is doing what this opposition asks, and such people make formidable trustees, editors, executors and negotiators. What they must give up is the search for someone reliable enough to make the vigilance unnecessary. No such person exists, and looking for one has consumed a great deal of otherwise excellent judgement.
