Moon in Aries

Emotional safety here depends on being able to act immediately; feelings arrive at full volume, discharge fast, and being made to sit still with them is the real torment.

Need is expressed here as motion. When something is wrong, this person cannot be soothed by discussion; they want to do something about it within the hour, and being told to wait and see produces genuine distress. Anger arrives first, even when the underlying feeling is hurt or fear, because anger is the emotion this temperament trusts. It is loud, it is brief, and it is over before the other party has finished being offended. Sulking is largely foreign; grudges require a patience this nature does not possess.

What is required to feel secure is the sense of being able to affect one's own situation. Dependence is intolerable. Comfort, when offered, works best as competition, exercise, cold air or a task; it does not work as sympathy murmured over tea. Such a person shows care the same way, by turning up and handling something, and is bewildered when a friend wanted only to be heard. The instinct in a crisis is excellent: they move while others are still deciding whether to be upset.

The cost is a poor relationship with slow feelings. Grief, which cannot be charged at, tends to be converted into irritability or overwork. Small provocations produce disproportionate flares that are forgotten by the speaker and remembered by everybody else. There is also little tolerance for another person's long process; patience must be learned deliberately rather than felt. Those who manage it best give the temper somewhere physical to go and then, having burned it off, come back and say the plainer thing underneath.
