Jupiter in Pisces

Belief in this position does not require an argument. It sits underneath the person as an assumption that things are held together by something and that mercy is the correct response to almost everything, and it survives evidence that would demolish a more reasoned faith. Their fortune is famously last-minute and famously undeserved by any accounting; the money appears, the stranger helps, the situation that was certainly finished quietly resolves. They stopped being surprised by this a long time ago.

The generosity has no gate on it. They give to people who will not repay, forgive what most would not forgive, and sit with suffering that other people arrange not to see. This is the placement of the volunteer, the chaplain, the person who visits the prisoner nobody else visits. What they teach, mostly by presence, is that a person is worth more than their worst behaviour, and they are often the only one in a life willing to make that case.

The excess is boundlessness. Money lent that was never going to return, hospitality given to someone actively taking advantage, a compassion that dissolves the distinction between helping and being consumed. Escape has its own pull here too, into drink, into fantasy, into a comfortable haze where nothing must be decided. From inside the giving feels like the only decent option. From outside it is often plain to everyone that the person is being emptied out, and saying so does very little.
